Project Details:
The project is a G+4 residential building designed on a prominent corner plot, with the ground floor accommodating stilt parking and each upper floor planned as a spacious 4BHK unit. The corner site condition offered dual road frontage, creating an opportunity to design a visually striking elevation that addresses both sides with equal prominence. The design intent was to combine the efficiency and functionality of a contemporary residence with the timeless elegance of neoclassical architecture. This was achieved by integrating clean spatial layouts with symmetrical facade elements, vertical proportions, and refined detailing, giving the building a neoclassical yet modern identity that enhances its urban presence.
Challenges
One of the key challenges of the project was addressing the corner plot condition, which required designing dual elevations that maintained harmony while maximizing visibility and light. Integrating stilt parking at the ground level without disrupting the elegance of the facade posed another design consideration. Balancing the efficiency of modern 4BHK layouts with the neoclassical language of the elevation required careful attention to proportions and detailing, ensuring the facade did not appear overly ornamental or repetitive across four floors.
Work Process
The design process began with a thorough site analysis, focusing on the advantages of the corner orientation for natural light, ventilation, and street presence. Massing studies were carried out to refine the building’s form while accommodating stilt parking efficiently. Floor layouts were developed with an emphasis on circulation and privacy, creating functional and well-ventilated 4BHK units. The elevation was then detailed with neoclassical principles of symmetry, vertical emphasis, and balanced proportions, reinterpreted in a contemporary manner with clean lines, restrained ornamentation, and modern materials. The result is a facade that merges functionality with elegance, giving the project a distinct and timeless character.
